At Caribbean Smiles, we have a Double Retainer policy. Why? Because this is considered one of the most important parts of orthodontic treatment. Dr. Destang has published work on retainer regimes based on her research, which proves that longer retention regimes are better for long-term stability of orthodontic treatment.
Certain bites have a higher tendency to relapse (revert back to the original bite), and we pay special attention to these. Our patients receive both a bonded retainer and a clear removable retainer at the end of treatment. Some cases will also require a Hawley Retainer (with the wire in the front).
