DR. DESTANG, The Orthodontist
Dr. Destang has dedicated nearly 30 years to the field of dentistry, with over 20 years exclusively to the field of orthodontics. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1995 from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad & Tobago. She obtained honours in orthodontics, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, and ethics & jurisprudence. Even before deciding to choose orthodontics as a final specialty, Dr. Destang underwent rigorous training on Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, so truly understands the intricacies of complex head & neck anatomy & surgery.
Her training at UWI included a 3 year course in Medicine, with exams which ensures that she has completed the medical curriculum and has the equivalent qualifications of the MB (bachelors of medicine) part of the MBBS medical degree.
While practicing her dentistry, she also pursued a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad & Tobago. She obtained her MBA with a major in marketing and a minor in finance in 1998.
She then continued her studies at the world-renowned University of Glasgow Dental School & Hospital in Scotland where she obtained her Masters of Science in Orthodontics in 2001.

Dr. Destang is also highly committed to ensuring that she stays ahead in her field by attending professional meetings with other top orthodontists world-wide.
Her orthodontic expertise involves the use of all modern techniques – Straight wire, Tip-Edge, Pre-adjusted edgewise, Functional appliances, self-ligating appliances, Lingual braces, a wide variety of removable braces, Invisalign and orthodontic implants. She is a member of the World Orthodontic Society, The American Association of Orthodontists and The World Lingual Orthodontic Society. She is also certified in the use of Invisalign, lingual (behind the teeth) braces, and orthodontic implants.
DR. DESTANG, Facial Surgery, Aesthetic Medicine & Dermatology
Dr. Destang is accomplished not only in her field of orthodontics, but also another highly regarded speciality of Aesthetic Medicine & Aesthetic Dermatology. She has received advanced medical training, and holds a Master’s degree in Dermatology with Cardiff University, and also a Master’s degree in Aesthetic Medicine with the renowned Queen Mary of London University. She became US board certified in Aesthetic Medicine in 2008, and is skilled in the administration of such specialised techniques such as Botox® injections, dermal filler injections, acne treatments, advanced aesthetic dermatology, laser treatments, and advanced facial surgical procedures.
Her surgical exposure to cosmetic facial corrections began during her dental training under the esteemed Oral Maxillofacial surgeon Professor Eric Thompson (deceased). Dr. Destang completed additional years of training in her dental program focusing on honing her surgical skills.
She is also an international trainer, lecturer and educator in aesthetic medicine, with special interest in medical microneedling and skin of colour. Her clinical research and skincare protocols are highly regarded, and have been published in the American Journal of Aesthetic Medicine. Dr. Destang is also a trainer and faculty member with the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, where she instructs other physicians in the use of Botox, fillers, chemical peels, and aesthetic dermatology.
Her flagship aesthetic clinic is reputed to be one of the best in the Caribbean, and conforms to international standards.
